My next female overnight wild camping and fishing destination was in a mountain. It is located in Sarawak, East Malaysia. This mountain is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Sarawak.
I did not use the tourist-oriented routes. The location I visited is not one that many people visit, nor is it a popular tourist destination. Only locals visit there. It takes around an hour and a half from Kuching.
Female Overnight Wild Camping and Fishing
During my stay, I did overnight wild camping and fishing there. I camped only at the foot of the mountain. If you look at the video, you will see the area is full of rocks. By the way, I was not alone. I was with a cousin. I have many cousins and most of them in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.(at the time I write this in 2022)
I had no idea what type of fish I could get there, but I needed fish for my dinner meal. It was late afternoon when I arrived. I quickly went in search of a fishing stick.
Build A Quick Bushcraft Shelter
Before I started fishing, I built a quick bushcraft shelter. You can watch how I built a survival shelter in the video. It was very simple.
It was becoming dark that evening, so I quickly put up the bush hut. Fortunately, it did not rain until I had completed the shelter.
I began fishing as soon as the rain stopped. I didn’t expect to see many fish there. The first fish got away before I could get hold of it.
However, finally, I got another decent-sized snakehead. I got 2 big-sized catfish too. It was enough for my dinner that night.
Dinner was not fancy. I cooked the snakehead in bamboo mixed with salt and onions. This is because when I go to the forest, I travel light.
If you’re a frequent hiker, you know how exhausting it is to carry a big backpack up a mountain or hill.
That night in the jungle, I didn’t sleep well. Perhaps I didn’t have a nice sleeping place and should have spent more time looking for one the next time.
However, it is also safer to sleep lightly in the wilderness. After all, my tent only had a roof and leaf floors. In the morning, around 6 am, I left the mountain for my next destination.
